Join our team as a Residential Youth Counselor!
As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will be directly supervising adolescent boys in a short-term transitional living program. Your role is to create and maintain a safe, therapeutic, nurturing, and caring home environment that supports each youth’s social, emotional, and academic development. You will serve as a positive role model, providing strength-based encouragement, advocating for youth, and communicating regularly with parents and guardians. The position involves ensuring constant supervision within established guidelines, supporting healthcare and personal hygiene, following structured routines, and assisting in implementing individualized care plans. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide constant sight and sound supervision to ensure youth safety and adherence to program expectations
  • Ensure the physical safety of youth and provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Follow established routines, schedules, including wake-up, bedtimes, and school transitions
  • Record observations and maintain accurate records, reports, and daily logs
  • Monitor access to personal hygiene, maintain bedrooms, and promote self-care education
  • Report healthcare needs or concerns and support compliance with medication regimens
  • Accompany youth to facilities, meetings, appointments, and activities
  • Ensure living spaces are organized, clean, safe, and hazard-free
  • Supervise youth during meal times
  • Support and facilitate the implementation of individualized care plans and schedules
  • Assist with pre-orientation, admission, and intake processes
  • Assist or lead in facilitating psychoeducational groups
  • Provide transportation for adolescents and families as needed
  • Maintain certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration

Schedule and Rate of Pay:
  • Hourly Rate: $23.28 per hour
  • Part-Time Schedule:
  • Total Hours: 12 hours per week
    • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    • Monday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    • Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Days Off: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
  • Additional Shifts: Optional shifts may become available. You are free to accept or decline these as they are offered.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents – Required
  • Valid driver’s license – Required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations or applying culturally responsive practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work scheduled shifts
