About This Position:
The MST-FIT Therapist will hold a caseload of five (5) families and provide intensive, in home and community-based treatment for adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.  This individual will identify strengths and challenges of the adolescent, the family, and their transactions with extra familial systems.  In addition, the Therapist will emphasize promoting behavior change in the youth’s natural environment.  FIT is designed to assist adolescents and their families with the transition from residential placement back into the community and their home.

  • Initiate face to face contact with each family within 24 hours from the time of referral
  • Provide comprehensive MST-FIT treatment to each family that is individualized and family-centered
  • Provide FIT services in each family’s home with a minimum of one (1) scheduled appointment per week
  • Attend initial and ongoing MST-FIT training
  • Collaborate with the family in developing an enduring social support network in the natural environment
  • Provide a range of goal-educated services to each client and family including but not limited to; improving parenting practices, increasing family affection, decreasing association with deviant peers and increasing association with pro-social peers
  • Help clients and families attain appropriate educational supports including but not limited to; obtaining school records, updated homework requirements, attendance at school meetings, and assisting parents in advocating for PPT and/or IEP’s
  • Submit a monthly written progress report to the referring Probation Officer and residential program’s Clinician that is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations concerning privacy and confidentiality
  • Discuss termination recommendation with referring Probation Officer
  • Conduct a termination interview with the family to summarize the progress made during treatment
  • Therapists will be accessible to families’ 24-hours per day, 7 days per week for crisis intervention and to provide between-session skill coaching

Position Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related behavioral science - Required
  • LMSW, LPC-A, or MFT-A - Required
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in therapeutic interventions, advocacy, and crisis management - Required
  • Ability to function independently
  • Personal Effectiveness/Credibility
  • Communication Proficiency
  • Collaboration Skills

Rate of Pay and Schedule
  • $68,000 salary
  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday with flexible start and end times ranging from 7:00am-8:00pm
    • Must be available for on-call duties to handle client emergencies
