Maintenance Custodian - Job #23 Waterbury, CT 06702 Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:00pm 40 Hours Per Week $27.40 per hour
About This Position: The Facility Maintenance Custodian is responsible for performing custodial and general maintenance duties for the Waterbury campus buildings and grounds. This includes troubleshooting mechanical problems, first respondent to emergencies, and primary on-call duty coverage.
Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming as needed
Service, clean, and supply restrooms, lavatories, and showers
Dust furniture, fixtures, walls, machines, equipment and polish metal fixtures or trimmings
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
Follow cleaning schedules, quality control standards, and complete assigned work in a timely manner
Responsible for light maintenance work / building updates
Maintain a documented preventative maintenance schedule required to keep equipment and buildings running smoothly
Report damaged or non-working equipment in a timely manner
Work with program managers to evaluate facility and special needs
Point person for coordinating meetings and schedules with outside contractors on special projects
Perform outdoor work related to facility cleanliness such as picking up litter and sweeping steps and sidewalks
Provides support for shoveling snow/spreading salt
Ability to work overtime as necessary

Primary On-Call duty coverage

Schedule and Rate of Pay:
Monday-Friday 7:30am-noon, 12:30pm-4:00pm
40 hours per week
On-call availability is required for emergency building purposes
Rate of pay is $27.40 per hour
This equates to $57,000 per year
Eligible for time and a half/ overtime
Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of facility maintenance experience - Required
Required to be the first respondent to maintenance emergencies
Ability to read, understand and comprehend shop service manuals pertaining to all grounds equipment/and ability to carry out service of equipment - Required
Valid driver’s license to utilize a company vehicle when needed - Required
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Ability to work overtime as required
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds - Required
