ABOUT THIS PROGRAM:
The Credible Messenger program is a community-based mentoring approach where individuals with shared lived experiences, particularly those with past involvement in the justice system, mentor and support high risk young people aged 13-18. This program leverages the Messenger's credibility and understanding of the community to foster positive change in the mentee.

ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The Credible Messenger provides guidance, support, and role-modeling to help youth navigate challenges, develop positive behaviors, and make healthier choices. They will hold a caseload of three to four youth and families and provide intensive monitoring, facilitate skill-building lessons, empowering families and provide advocacy.
  • Develop a therapeutic mentoring relationship with youth
  • Provide group-based skill-building lessons and activities
  • Connect youth with pro-social activities and encourage community involvement
  • Help clients and families obtain proper educational support
  • Keep in regular communication with Probation Officer
  • Submit monthly written progress notes
  • Complete individual service plan and discharge summary documentation
  • Will be accessible as needed to youth and families including 24/7 access for crisis intervention
SCHEDULE AND RATE OF PAY:
  • Mon/Tues/Fri 9a-5p and Wed/Thu 10a-6p, Sat/Sun On-Call
  • Rate of pay is $44,000 / annually
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma/GED – Required
  • Involvement with the local community - Required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid Driver's License - Required
  • Skill in advocacy and crisis intervention
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Communication Proficiency
  • Collaboration Skills
